![]() I wanted to offer you something for free today, my comprehensive Work From Home Today! guide. Just email me and I'll send it to you. Now, I'll tell you why I want to give it to you for free: I'm getting a whole lot of emails from people who have put their dream of moving to Costa Rica on hold. Of course, this Coronavirus pandemic has derailed everyone's plans, and we don't know what's going to happen next week, yet alone next year. And at this point, many foreign countries have closed their borders to A) Tourists and B) Specifically U.S. tourists since we're the global hotspot for infections. You may not be able to hop on a plane to Costa Rica right now and enter the country as a tourist, but that will inevitably change - and probably sooner than later since so much of their economy is based on tourism. But the bigger challenge I'm hearing about in all of your emails is the fact that Covid-19 has decimated the economy. What was once a rosy future with a retirement or pension as you lived down in Costa Rica is much bleaker. It will take years, and maybe even a decade to counter the economic fallout of this pandemic (and our government's mismanagement). While I’ll never be so naïve to say there’s a silver lining to this pandemic, the reality is that a lot of people will quickly seek new employment online. Even when this crisis is safely in the rearview mirror and we can start mix and mingling again, the way we live, do business, and work has probably changed forever. And why not? What may have seemed like some pipe dream a few years ago is a distinct reality today. The Internet has made it possible for anyone with access to work for just about any company or client in the world, bypassing borders, time zones, currencies, and all other physical barriers. In fact, I’ve been doing just that – working online and location-independent as a digital nomad – since 2011 when I moved abroad. I’ve spent nearly a decade making a solid living from my laptop no matter where I was living or traveling, including Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
I work from the beach, from hotel rooms, in airports, at nice best cafes and coffee shops, and at one or two not-so-nice bars. The ability to be location-independent with my work also allows me to travel back to the United States for a few months every year, not missing a beat with hours and income as I visit family, which is truly invaluable. So, I’m no newbie who popped up just when this pandemic struck – I’ve been in the trenches with virtual work since well before it was even a “thing.” And while I’m not going to claim that I make millions of dollars effortlessly overnight, I make a surprisingly solid and consistent living. Be clear that this is no get-rich-quick promise. But even for the typical worker bee, having the ability to work online or from home can save your career, your family’s finances, and help you resettle down to Costa Rica sooner than later. I’m committed to helping you get started, and that's why I'm offering the Work From Home Today! guide to you for free. Just email me if you'd like to receive it - no strings attached. In service, Your friend, Norm Schriever :-)
